"Pickaway County Commissioner Brian Stewart is known for saying what he's thinking..." - The Columbus Dispatch, February 26, 2015

Responsibly Managing Our Tax Dollars

Brian Stewart started mowing yards when he was in middle school, bused tables in high school, joined the Army after graduation, and built his own business once he came back home. He knows hard work and the value of a dollar. That'a why he has always been fiscally conservative in managing our tax dollars, passing a balanced budget every year with no deficit spending as a Pickaway County Commissioner. Under his leadership, the county's credit rating was increased by Moody's as a result of “balanced operations, extremely healthy reserves, and prudent fiscal management” by the commissioners. He is a watchdog when it comes to taxpayer money, and he will oppose wasteful spending, and advance limited government, at the Statehouse.

Creating Jobs; Broadband Internet

When Brian Stewart took office, the unemployment rate in Pickaway County was 9.3%. Working together with employers, state agencies, fellow elected officials, and community groups, Brian helped create more than 2,700 good-paying jobs in the county in 7 years. Brian knows what job creators are looking for at the state and local level, and he speaks their language. Brian will work to make this level of job creation possible all across the 78th District. A major component of this will be expanding broadband internet to rural communities in the 78th District and across the state. Rural communities are being left behind when it comes to internet access, and no company will make significant investments where it cannot access the web. Brian will work to develop a statewide approach to this connectivity problem which will empower local communities and remove barriers to expanded access.

Fighting for Ohio values

Just as President Trump is working to make America great again, Brian Stewart looks forward to working with his colleagues in the Ohio General Assembly to make Ohio the best state in America to raise a family. Brian is a born-again Christian who shares the values of the families in the 78th District, and he will stand proudly, as he always has, for pro-life protections for the unborn, 2nd Amendment rights, religious liberty, freedom of speech, and for Ohio to always do its part in providing for a strong national defense, the security of our borders, and our American way of life.

A Partner for Local Governments and Communities

Local government - villages, cities, townships, and counties - is the most responsive level of government to "We the People." State government should treat local governments as the partners they are. Brian Stewart has been providing principled, conservative leadership in local government for 10 years, and knows the challenges and opportunities facing the communities in the 78th District. As State Representative, Brian will help bring state resources back to our communities, and will work with local officials to ensure that wherever the state can be helpful in resolving a local need, help is on the way.
